Trail Running – Your Guide to Success

There are three types of people in this world: Those who love running, those who absolutely loathe running, and those who have never really tried or formed an opinion on it. If you are the first type, welcome my running friend, it’s nice to have you here and I know we’re going to have loads of fun on this journey. If you are in the second category, you are so welcome! I’m not sure what you’re doing here, but I hope by the end of it you’ll hate running a little less (and maybe even try it?). If you are in the third category, you are in the right place! I hope that this book will encourage you to switch from the fence to the runner’s side! If the title and the book description didn’t give it away. This is a guide to trail running, but it’s more than just a book filled with tips and do’s and don’ts. It’s really an invitation to embark on a new journey, filled with adventure, explorations, and fun. Before we jump into it, I would love to share my running story with you.

The Euphoria Effect:
How To Stop Binge Eating

“Me and my body have been on two separate sides. We’ve never, until recently, been on the same side.” – Paula Abdul

Have you ever felt like you and your body were on different sides of the battlefield? Everything in you wants to be healthier, happier, and more balanced, but your body seems to scream for a double-thick chocolate milkshake with a large side of fries every couple of hours. It’s hard being in constant disagreement with your body and it takes a massive toll on your personal well-being as well as your mental health. Trust me, I’ve been there. For more than seven years I suffered from a severe Binge Eating Disorder. Binge Eating Disorder is when you eat an abnormally large amount of food in a short period of time, feeling unable to stop, which carries on for at least three months (NEDA, 2017). First of all, there is a big difference between binge eating and a Binge Eating Disorder. Overeating every now and then is actually quite normal. Who doesn’t go for a second helping when they really shouldn’t at the Christmas party? Helping yourself to a second slice of cake on your birthday does not mean that you are on the brink of a disorder. At most you’ll get a bellyache. If these kinds of habits persist over a long period of time, however, you might be struggling with a Binge Eating Disorder which comes with a bit more than just a bellyache.

Questions For Couples Before Marriage

You did it! You finally convinced someone that you’re awesome enough to settle down with (Or at least you’ve got them considering it). But now all the doubt and questions and wondering start, all boiling down to one stinking question:
Are we even ready to get married?
That’s why you opened up this book or got it from someone as a gift (or a hint), isn’t it? To answer some of the bizarre and scary thoughts you’ve been having, to silence the doubt, or who knows, perhaps to prove to someone that you are ready. So, let’s start by getting the elephant out of the room. Will you find a quick test at the end of this book that will give you a verdict on whether you should get married or not? No. Will it at least provide a recommendation or a compatibility test? Also no. But before you put this book down and write it off as useless, let’s rather chat about what this book will do for you, cause believe me, it’s plenty.

Europe #travelgoals
for students debunked

Traveling through Europe is on just about EVERY student’s bucket list. Enjoying a chocolate croissant in Paris, eating pasta in Venice, and taking unforgettable, Instagramable photos. But there are a few things that no traveling website or Instagram page talks about – so let’s debunk some of these #goals.

The #1 exciting thing about backpacking through Europe is being “spontaneous,”; Not planning where you’re going next and just deciding in the moment. Well, as fun and exciting as that sounds, unless you want to sleep on the train station or in a disgusting backpackers – planning ahead is the KEY to having a successful trip. Trains work on schedules and hostels and Airbnb’s gets booked out quickly, especially in the summer seasons. Maybe keep the spontaneity for exploring the streets and what you’re going to eat, and plan ahead where you’ll be heading to next.

Am I Sleeping Effectively?

Am I sleeping effectively?
Wait what? There’s a wrong way of sleeping? We know – it’s scary and somewhat stressful, but we don’t want to add something else to your do list (Sleep effectively: check), we rather want to address some common things we all do that might be affecting the quality of your sleep. So, let’s start with this question:

Have you ever woken up after a night of sleep and felt like you were more tired than when you gone to bed? Yup, we’ve all been there. We all get those days where we wake up exhausted, unmotivated, and just… a little zombie-ish. Well, that’s okay if it happens once every blue moon because the neighbor’s dog won’t stop barking or because your kids woke up 4 times. But when feeling like that becomes the norm, we’ve got to fix it.
So, let’s look at the importance of sleep. First of all, it’s essential to know that your sleep influences much more than just your energy levels. Unhealthy sleep actually connects to various things and can even negatively influence your immunity. Intense right? Studies have shown that people who don’t get quality sleep are more likely to catch viruses such as the common cold.

When Good People Die

I’ve known a lot of loss. More accurately, I love a lot of people who’ve known great loss. And it sucks. Receiving the phone calls with traumatic news, witnessing the aftermath, and sticking around even after the food parcels stop coming. And of course, with that comes the question – why?

I’ve never asked God “why” before. I’ve avoided the question of why good people die since the first time I had half a thought about it. I think it’s because I’ve never really cared about the answer. I somehow thought that no answer would satisfy my pain anyway.

No answer would be good enough, even if the answer came from God himself.

I’ve never been brave enough to actually admit to God that I was disappointed in Him. Until now. Until I had to pack my suitcase for the second funeral this month.

Previously I just accepted that I wouldn’t understand the answer as to why good people die. I wrapped it up in a neat little “with free will, sin came into the world, and therefore bad things happen” package. But lately, I’ve been overwhelmed with this burning pain in my chest, and I just want to scream, “Why God? Why did these GOOD people have to die?”

Let it be known

Let it be known,
That He has Risen.

On the third day of mourning,
The ground began to shake.
The King that was thought to be dead,
Now awake.

The stone was rolled away,
Leaving an empty tomb behind.
Let it be known that not even in death,
could He be confined.

Let it be known, even today.
Where it looks like darkness has the world in a chokehold.
Let it be known that He still holds the victory,
It wasn’t just part of history.
He is alive.

Hi, and thanks for dropping by!

I’m first and foremost a lover of Jesus, coffee fanatic, and adventurer. I’ve been in Ministry for almost 10 years now and I am currently the Kids Pastor at my local church, Victory Church, located in Jeffrey’s Bay, South Africa. Although I love my life here in South Africa, God placed the USA on my heart many years ago, and I believe that the time has finally come to embark on this next journey!

Even though I am now a full-time Kids Pastor, throughout my years in J-Bay I did a lot of other amazing things as well: I worked at a creative studio, mentored students, hosted bible studies, and learned incredible skills which I now use to enhance churches, businesses, and organizations. I am a very passionate person, especially when it comes to seeing someone’s life get touched and changed by God. I love the Prophetic, the Word of God, and well, everything Jesus.
